The GMP is an independent tax-exempt organization founded by friends, allies, and alumni of Georgetown University.

In 1838, Georgetown University sold 272 slaves to plantations in Louisiana.

Men, women, and children.

University folklore says they perished without a trace.

But almost one hundred survived the Civil War.

Thousands of descendants are alive today.

Their story is part of our story.
